William A. Calzaretta, was appointed to serve as the Executive Director of Suburban Campuses for DePaul University in 1996, overseeing four campuses located in Naperville, Des Plaines, Oak Forest and Rolling Meadows. During his leadership, the university expanded their suburban presence by opening new campuses in Lake Forest and Rolling Meadows and enlarging the campuses at Des Plaines and Oak Forest. As Executive Director, he is responsible for the development of the campuses, promotion of the academic programs and services as well as the direction of the administration team of the Suburban Campuses.
Bill Calzaretta first joined the DePaul community in 1976 as an instructor in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences-Rehabilitation Services Program. In 1980, he was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure and served from 1980 to 1996 as Director of Rehabilitation Services. Rehabilitation Services is a unique graduate level program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences known for it's innovative course offerings and intensive weekend method of delivery. He was principle investigator and project director for over 1.3 million dollars in training grants which he received from the U.S. Department of Education's Rehabilitation Services Administration. These grants were used to provide graduate training to Rehabilitation Facility Personnel working with persons with multiple disabilities in a six state region of the Midwest.
Bill's areas of specialization includes: family systems therapy, integrating persons with disabilities into families, marital and couples therapy, and psychological and behavioral assessment. He has consulted with rehabilitation facilities serving individuals with disabilities, school districts, and mental health agencies in behavioral management for over 30 years.
He has held numerous positions with academic journals including Associate Editor of the Journal of Rehabilitation Administration, which was co-founded by DePaul University. He is a member of the American Psychology Association, National Rehabilitation Association, American Counseling Association, and Rotary International. He represents DePaul on many community and service organizations. He is a past chairman of the board of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce and is the recipient of the 2003 Naperville Jaycees Distinguished Service Award in the area of education, and the 2004 DePaul University Kenneth A. McHugh Staff Quality Service Award.
He holds a B.A. in Psychology from St. Procopius College, an M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Illinois Institute of Technology and a Ph.D in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University.
